About Me

About Me

I am an experienced Chicagoland area family law mediator and litigator. I pride myself on my professionalism and availability to my clients, who can count on a response within one business day. I maximize use of technology to save you time and money.

I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science and a double major in Psychology and Political Science, and completed my Juris Doctor degree at the DePaul University College of Law in 2000. Since then, I have been practicing law, handling many negotiations, mediations, and litigating intensive family law cases.

I have over 20 years experience in civil litigation, mainly in areas of family law and domestic violence, and related areas in Cook, DuPage, Kane and other counties in Illinois. I have mediated cases in Chicago and DuPage County. I have represented clients before Judges at the Daley Center in Chicago, 555 West Harrison Avenue in Chicago, Maywood Courthouse, Rolling Meadows Courthouse, DuPage County Courthouse, Kane County Court and Will County Court.

I have been a court approved mediator. I have been mediating conflicts for over 15 years. I mediate out of my office in Chicago, in DuPage (by appointment), and remotely via Zoom.

Cases I have mediated, include cases involving abuse allegations, custody and visitation/parenting time, child support, alimony/maintenance, property and debt division, including businesses and retirement plans. I mediate cases with parties that are represented by attorneys, but also pro se parties (representing themselves). Depending on the clients needs, I summarize their agreement or draft the settlement agreement for the parties or their attorneys to finalize with the court.

I am married and have three children.

I am a member of the Illinois State, DuPage County, and Chicago Bar Associations, as well as the American Immigration Lawyers Association. I am fluent in Polish and speak conversational Spanish.

Why I Mediate

I believe that Mediation is a better way to resolve family disputes than litigation. The court system is ill-equipped for dealing with most family law issues. There is not enough time, personnel or resources to provide each situation with the appropriate help. Very importantly, the legal system is very formal, and does not allow for ingenious solutions. Mediation works because the parties can be creative in an informal setting, guided by a good mediator. I believe that everyone should try mediation before going to court.

An Experienced, Patient and Affordable Mediator

I work to accommodate your particular situation, in large measure because I believe that mediation can work for you, and at the very least, you should try mediating. Please note that while I can answer general questions about the process, I cannot discuss case facts with only one of the parties, without the other party’s presence or consent. Please use the contact form below, or, have each party complete my Mediation Questionnaire here .
